About Steve

The son of a California educator, Steve was raised with the values that emphasized the importance of integrity, perseverance, and service. These guiding principles led him to receive a congressional nomination to the United States Air Force Academy, where he majored in engineering and political science.  On active duty, he served as a flight navigator on-board EC-130 and C-141 aircraft during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

After being honorably discharged at the rank of Captain, Steve moved to Los Angeles with his husband Brian, a maritime and admiralty attorney.  It didn’t take Steve and Brian long to encounter Quin, a shelter dog whom they adopted along the way.

Steve’s passion for public service further deepened when he saw the need for safer communities here in Los Angeles.  He pursued this need into a career as a peace officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, now holding the rank of Sergeant.  For the past 13 years, it has been his honor to serve communities throughout Los Angeles.

Steve is an advocate for family violence prevention and the chronically unhoused.  He has had the honor of working directly with non-profit organizations, such as Children’s Institute International and Project E.R.I.N., and has served as head of the Homelessness Committee for a neighborhood council.

It was in response to the mismanaged efforts to confront our city’s homelessness crisis, corruption among elected officials, and a lackluster COVID-19 response along with several other issues that inspired Steve to run for Los Angeles City Council.

Steve holds a Master’s degree from the Marshall School of Business at USC and believes strongly in ethical leadership, which he has displayed over his 25 years of public service. It is his deeply held conviction that elected officials should serve their constituents with compassion, integrity and trust.  On June 7, 2022, vote for Steve.  It’s time for fresh change at City Hall.
